About Banshavali

Memory is a family's true inheritance.

Names fade. Photographs scatter. The elders who carry a lineage in their memory are not always with us. Banshavali exists to keep that knowledge — accurate, shareable, and permanent.

📕

The single fragile book

Most families keep their vanshavali in one handwritten book — one flood, one fire, one move away from being lost.

🕰️

Memory that fades

So much lineage lives only in an elder's memory. When they pass, decades of names and stories go with them.

🧩

Scattered fragments

Photos on phones, names in chats, dates half-remembered. Nothing in one place, nothing that lasts.

Our mission

We turn a family's history into a living digital archive every relative can read, search and add to — without losing the dignity and detail of the original record.

Each family gets its own private archive at its own web address, fully bilingual, with a real admin system behind it. Preserved not for a generation — but for all of them.

How it comes together

From a name to a lineage.

Step 01

Plant the root

Start with your founding ancestor — the single name every branch grows from.

Step 02

Add the generations

Record members with births, marriages, places and photos. The tree builds itself.

Step 03

Tell the stories

Publish biographies for notable members — education, work, and the lives they led.

Step 04

Keep it living

Share news and events, invite editors, and back everything up in one click. Forever.

What guides us

Principles, not features.

Family-owned

Each archive belongs to the family. Admins control who can edit and what is shown publicly.

Bilingual by default

English and नेपाली together, with Bikram Sambat dates and Devanagari names.

Built to last

One-click backups and exports mean a family's history is never locked in, never lost.

About the creator

"I built Banshavali because every Nepali family deserves a permanent digital home for its history. Too many family stories disappear every generation. My goal is to preserve them forever."
